🔎 Overview
The Herschel Ibiza Outdoor Infrared Heater is a ceiling-suspended electric patio heater combining zero-light infrared heating with integrated dimmable LED lighting. Available in 2500W and 3000W models, Ibiza is designed for Australian outdoor entertaining areas, alfresco kitchens, patios, restaurant terraces and suitable commercial interiors.
The Herschel Ibiza uses COSIX Cell heating technology with a microcrystal ceramic glass surface to deliver radiant warmth without the bright red glare associated with conventional halogen heaters. Its circular design distributes heat around the area directly beneath the unit, while the integrated LED ring provides adjustable ambient lighting for evening entertaining.
Both Ibiza models include remote control operation with two heating levels and independent lighting controls. With IP55 weather protection, a black powder-coated aluminium body and a two-year warranty, the Ibiza offers a practical overhead heating solution where floor and wall space need to remain clear.
📏 Size & Fit Information
The Herschel Ibiza is available in two sizes, with the larger model providing additional heating output and greater estimated coverage.
M-IBIZA-2500 — 2500W
The 2500W Ibiza measures 500 × 500 mm across its square footprint, with an 85 mm body depth. It provides an estimated outdoor heating area of 6–10 m², making it suitable for smaller patio seating arrangements, outdoor dining tables and compact alfresco entertaining zones.
For suitable indoor commercial installations, the estimated heating area increases to 9–16 m².
M-IBIZA-3000 — 3000W
The 3000W Ibiza measures 700 × 700 mm, with the same 85 mm body depth. It provides an estimated outdoor heating area of 8–14 m² and indoor commercial coverage of approximately 10–20 m².
The higher output is suited to larger outdoor seating arrangements and entertaining areas where greater heating capacity is needed.
Choosing the correct size
The ideal heater size depends on the dimensions of the occupied area, suspension height and exposure to moving air.
Outdoor heating coverage can decrease substantially in windy or highly exposed locations. Where air movement is significant, the effective heating area may be reduced by approximately one-third to one-half.
For larger alfresco spaces, two appropriately positioned heaters may provide more balanced warmth than one larger heater covering only the centre of the area.
The Ibiza is designed to heat the occupied area below it rather than provide general heating across an unlimited outdoor space.
📘 Additional Information & Resources
The Herschel Ibiza combines a suspended outdoor infrared heater with integrated ambient LED lighting, making it particularly useful in contemporary alfresco spaces where the heating equipment forms part of the overall design.
Unlike a conventional glowing patio heater, the Ibiza uses a zero-light ceramic glass heating surface. The LED ring provides a separate source of visible light that can be adjusted or switched off independently.
Cleaning and maintenance
Isolate the electrical supply and allow the heater to cool completely before cleaning.
Use a soft, dry or lightly dampened cloth to remove dust from accessible exterior surfaces. Avoid abrasive cleaning products, solvents and direct water spraying onto electrical connections.
Periodically inspect the suspension arrangement, electrical cable positioning and surrounding clearances.
💡 Integrated LED Ring Lighting
The Ibiza features an integrated LED light ring positioned around the outer edge of the heater.
This allows the unit to provide ambient lighting and infrared heating from the same overhead fixture.
Lighting features
- Integrated perimeter LED light ring.
- Three selectable brightness settings.
- Independent operation from the infrared heater.
- Remote control adjustment.
- Suitable ambient lighting for outdoor dining and entertaining.
Heating and lighting can operate independently.
This means the LED ring can be used on warmer evenings when additional heating is unnecessary, or switched off when infrared warmth is required without visible lighting.
The LED ring is intended to provide ambient illumination rather than replace the main lighting system for an outdoor kitchen or commercial dining area.
For spaces requiring task lighting, such as food preparation benches, dedicated lighting should be planned separately.
⚡ Infrared Heating Performance & Efficiency
The Ibiza uses infrared radiant heating to transfer warmth towards people and surrounding surfaces rather than relying solely on heating the surrounding air.
This provides a practical method of heating outdoor seating areas where warm air from conventional heaters can quickly disperse.
Rated electricity consumption at full output
- 2500W model: Uses 2.5 kWh of electricity per hour at continuous full power.
- 3000W model: Uses 3.0 kWh of electricity per hour at continuous full power.
When operating at the 50% power setting, the nominal heating input is reduced accordingly.
Actual running costs depend on the electricity tariff, selected power level and operating hours.
Heating in exposed areas
Wind and air movement can reduce the effective area of radiant warmth.
Where outdoor conditions are particularly exposed, consider dividing the heating across multiple units rather than relying on a single centrally mounted heater.
Correct heater positioning and selecting the appropriate wattage are important for achieving comfortable outdoor heating without unnecessary electricity consumption.
🌿 Outdoor Heating Applications
The Herschel Ibiza is suitable for Australian outdoor entertaining areas where suspended heating provides a practical alternative to wall-mounted or freestanding patio heaters.
Outdoor kitchens
An Ibiza heater can be positioned above a suitable dining or entertaining zone adjacent to an outdoor kitchen.
Its suspended design keeps the walls available for cabinetry, appliances and other outdoor kitchen equipment.
Alfresco dining areas
The circular heating arrangement works particularly well above an outdoor dining table or central seating group.
The integrated LED ring adds ambient lighting for evening meals and entertaining.
Covered patios and pergolas
The Ibiza can be suspended from an appropriate overhead structure where there is sufficient height and structural capacity.
Installation clearances must be considered carefully around timber beams, roofing materials and other overhead fittings.
Restaurant and hospitality terraces
For suitable hospitality settings, Ibiza heaters can be distributed across outdoor dining sections to provide radiant warmth to occupied tables.
Multiple heaters may be required for larger dining areas or exposed locations.
Commercial indoor spaces
The Ibiza is also suitable for appropriate indoor commercial environments, including restaurants, bars and hotel hospitality areas.
Indoor heating coverage is generally greater than outdoor coverage because the space is less exposed to wind.
🎛️ Thermostat & Heating Controls
Both Herschel Ibiza models include a remote control for adjusting the heating output and integrated LED lighting.
Heating controls
- Full power: Operates the selected heater at its rated 2500W or 3000W output.
- Half power: Reduces output to approximately 50% for milder conditions or lower heating demand.
- Remote operation: Allows heating adjustments from the occupied seating area.
- Control bypass: Supports fixed-setting operation where the remote control functions are bypassed.
The two power levels allow the heating output to be adjusted as outdoor conditions change.
For example, full output may be preferred during cooler evenings, while half output may provide sufficient warmth during milder weather.
The heater's integrated remote control covers the normal heating and lighting functions. A separate Herschel iQ thermostat is not required for these included remote functions.
🌬️ Installation Clearances & Safety Requirements
The Herschel Ibiza operates at a heating surface temperature of approximately 460°C and must be installed safely beyond the reach of occupants.
Because of the high operating temperature, careful positioning is essential in outdoor entertaining areas where people may stand, move furniture or reach upwards.
